My class for Educational Technology has covered an array of topics that have had their appealing nature; but the topic that I found to be the most interesting was adaptive technologies. I enjoyed learning about different technologies and what they are capable of as far as educational purposes go. It was also nice to learn how much these technologies help students who are learning impaired or those who struggle with different medical ailments. Through adaptive technology like read-out-loud or talking spell-checkers, people can join in on the academic arena and learn with the rest of us. Another fun topic that I found fascinating were the challenges that go with using adaptive technologies. Reading about the struggle of implementing this technology was an eye opener. I never thought of how schools have to acclimate to the new and advanced technologies, or how they are responsible for teaching the students how to use them. Not to mention, the funding the school needs in order to get this type of technology into their school system. While this topic might not be the most uplifting, it definitely needed to be touched on in order to make a difference down the line.
Speaking of learning new technology, I want to learn how to create web pages that will catch a reader’s eye. I know that I’m weak in the patience area when it comes to learning new technology, so it’s hard for me to stick it out while I’m trying to learn something new. But I feel that being able to build a good website can help make or break you in certain instances. I’ve seen a number of people create amazing websites and blogs that make me want to know their vision or product better. If I could spend more time getting used to the different technologies out there used for websites, then I could start trying to build a noteworthy site that might be helpful on the job front. I plan on achieving this goal of mine by starting to build a website. I want to go work on it little, by little, until I have a product that I can be proud of showing and sharing with others.
